These custom made mossy hides make great humid hides for arboreal geckos. This hide is made from a plastic BPA free frame, wrapped in green sphagnum moss. These hides are meant to be used as moist hides and should not be placed in tank where the hides temperature will exceed 100 degrees. Moss will shed a bit the first few days of having the hide, but will settle in after the animal has used it for a few days. These hides are meant to provide cover for your gecko while giving you an opportunity to view them in the hide. You can always put a piece of black paper on the outside of the enclosure to cover the back of the hide if the gecko is nervous about the back side being open. Most geckos and frogs go in the hide and hang out there with the uncovered back. Hides will slowly turn a less vibrant green over time as the moss is not alive and will slowly lose its green color and turn a faded green after a year or more. Letting the hide fully dry out 1-2 times a week will help keep the vibrant green color for a longer period of time. These hides are meant for Arboreal geckos. They are not meant for terrestrial geckos since a terrestrial gecko has longer claws that will dig into the moss and slowly destroy the inside of the hide. The pictures of the 3 different sizes are taken with a 70 gram Crested Gecko inside of it for size reference. Hides are meant for terrestrial use only and cannot be submerged in water. The hides come in 3 different sizes. Sizes are approximent and can vary by 1/2" in any direction due to moss being applied and laying differently on every hide.

All hides can hold between 18-22lb through 1/4inch glass. We changed the magnets we used so that the hide can support an immense amount of weight. If you want them to hold more, please contact us and we can add another magnet to the hide to increase the amount of weight the hide can hold.
